I am so impressed with this thing. It’s a twin to LionZoo’s. 2013 GX. It won’t stay stock for long.
I’ll have to start posting over at O&E now. We will probably keep it pretty mild at first (similar to the 470 below) but in a few years I might expand the build.

I do have a question about these. How do you feel about the side-hinged door as opposed to a liftgate

I will never get used to it. Before this, I had Suburban with Barn doors. That spoiled me.
I don’t really like lift gate, but I really don’t like the side-hindged door.

Interesting . What made the barn door better? I personally like the lift gates for loading and unloading in the rain.
Im asking all of this because I know someone who's cross shopping these with some other options and their main complaint against these is the rear door.

For what it’s worth, I went from “hate”to “this is ...fine” the first time i had my roof box on, and the spoiler didn’t destroy itself on the overhanging box, because it doesn’t open in that direction.

The swing out door is fine. I really like it actually. I think the Land Cruiser’s split tailgate is best but this is alright with me.

Gold rims really work with those things. Well really any vehicle looks good with em

Nice! My mom just got one too, albeit a new one. Although I like the styling of your generation a lot better.

I REALLY wanted a 14 but the price jump from 13 to 14 was a bit ridiculous. I would have loved a new one but we didn't want a car payment again.

Barn doors would stay with at least one open even if your car is parked on a slope with one side of the car leaning.
There is no shock absorber that would fail and whack you on the head with 400 lb lift gate.
There is no complicated software/hardware. doors swing open and close. That’s all they do. No wave your foot under bumper. no key on fob to open or close.

I like the older ones on how subtle they are compared to the new ones. I’d really like to take it off road, but since it’s leased through her business that probably won’t happen. She thinks it’s too small compared to her old suburban, so she might give it to my dad and her get another LR4. Are you getting a rack for it?

Eventually I will. We are going to keep it pretty mild for a few years then I'll get the wife something else and then this will be mine.
